REVIEW: EVERY LAST BREATH (The Dark Elements series) BY JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT

***** 4.5 STARS

Available wherever books are sold on release and also:

Some loves will last ’til your dying breath
Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.
Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.
Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

So the end is here. It kinda reminds me of the song of The Doors 'The End'... And I might have been humming that song instead of Paradise City throughout the whole book.
Well, some of you who know me (if someone is reading this) might have notice Jennifer Armentrout is one of my favourites authors. So I'm just gonna cut the bullshit and say:

I JUST LOVE EVERYTHING SHE WRITES!

Her books swallow me from beginning to end and I just Can't. Stop, Reading. If you haven't read any of her books yet I recommend to you to start now, there's a lot to choose. YA paranormal, YA contemporary, NA and Adult. I love them all.
From her YA novels, my favorites are the Lux Series. But this series comes really close. I think this series shows a maturity in Jennifer's writing. Everything is darker, but with that I don't mean that only bad or tragic things happen. But there's this relationship between good and evil that is really wonderful to see. Where nothing is just black and white, and everything is grey, and other colors too. I must say that I really liked the conclusion of this story, but I think I would have liked to see more, something spectacular, I guess I feel like there's a lot more to tell. Like I can feel there might some more adventures coming in the future. But as far as everyone knows this was the end of the series. So I'm kind of dissapointed in that.
I think everything was just too perfect though, and I guess I'm a glutton for punishement because I would have liked it more with some crying there. But it was perfectly written, perfectly developed. There was anticipation, excitement, love, lust and friendship, but I feel like something was missing. I didn't sweat with it, nor cry, so I guess is that and like I said I'm kind of a masochist in my reading. But I did laugh, and smile, a lot. I just would have liked a little more messiness... Not that there wasn't any.
I just hope we get to see other things of this world someday again. I feel like I need to, and not just because it's just ended, it's because I don't feel the emptiness that a final book in a series usually brings me, and it's bugging me. But I'll let it be.

Well, that's my review, it's not much, I don't analyse things much I just guide my reviews on my feelings, if I like it or not, and boy I did like this, but this was the less exiting book, I guess. But as a series, I loved them and I think it's a must read to everyone who likes some Young Adult Paranormal ;)

**

  1. Addicted Series (Calloway Sisters included) by Krista & Becca Ritchie
Addicted series

This series is amazing, New Adult and it starts getting on the Adult category as the books come out, the characters go growing up in age and in character development and you go right along with them.
The first book is Addicted to You, and here's a little review I made on Goodreads, I don't know if I'll make a bigger review of this, but here's a little something for you:

I didn't think much of this book at first, I mean a sex addict and an alcoholic... It didn't call to me and I was even reluctant to read it, but I took the chance and I'm thankful for it. At first it was ok I guess, I just 'saw' the actions of the characters and wonder to myself the why's and when's of their addictions, and honestly, there was a point where I said: dude, this seems that doesn't have any good end... But as I read it I understood that in just one book their issues wouldn't come to conclusion and at the end of the book I was so riled up and breathing hard, like my heart was literally being squeezed by their feelings and the events in the book. I even cried. So for turning a book where I was expecting just shit into something so much more meaningful for me (because sometime there I really felt a connection) I rated it 5 stars.

The rest of the book, keeps up where we left off the first one, we get to know more characters and see how this story evolves to something more than just the tale of a sex addict and an alcoholic, there's this bunch of people who becomes family in the books and every one of them deals with their own issues while always being there for each other. And there's plenty of sexy times too ;)

If you're interested in this series, you can get them here. Also the rest of the series Calloway Sisters, can be found on that page, as well as the descriptions of each book.

 2. Scorched by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is a beautiful story about dealing with life, with personal and emotional issues and how you overcome them. It's about growing up by knowing yourself and when you need help, specially help from yourself. It's New Adult and I recommend it to all girls and boys who have dealt with some mental health issues such as addictions, depression or anxiety, among others, and need to hope that there's still some kind of happy ending out there, and it begins with ourselves :)

3. Moonlight on Nightingale Way by Samantha Young.

It's the end of an era! The end of the great On Dublin Street Series, adult and with lots of romance, sex, and personal stories that are written so well they keep you on edge and you can feel the chemistry between the characters as it you were one of them. This book was the perfect ending of this series and I rated them 5 stars on Goodreads and Amazon, they were awesome, I just can't add anything more substantial or objective because I love them!

Sweet Addiction cover Bonus!!! Sweet Addiction by J. Daniels

This one's about a beautiful and independent woman who falls for the alpha male. Yes, those macho men who you love, or hate to love but can't avoid it, they're just too hot and you secretly wish some lover could care about you obsessively much, and you'd totally returned the feeling given the sex is awesome but also because that person completes a part of yourself you didn't even knew existed or that it was incomplete. Also, there are a lot of treats and frosting involved, wink wink!

Check the book and the rest of the series here

That's it for now folks, hope you like my recommendations for you and if you pick any of these books I really wish you enjoy them as much as I did! P.S. I'm really sorry if there's some grammatical and orthographic errors, I'm really trying to be the best on my English, but I'm still learning everyday :)

Book Review: SCORCHED by JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT

***** 5 STARS

Scorched is the second book in the Frigid series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, this book is about a girl who likes to party and be carefree, then we discover that she hides some issues and how she finds the strength to acknowledge and deal with them.
I don't always like to dwell on abstract of the book, if you want that you can read the preview on Goodreads :)

So let's go to what's important here, what I thought about the book. Well I loved it.
I don't even have much to say to it. All I can say is that I'm probably biased because my arguments revolve around my feelings, and this book make me feel EVERYTHING! Yes, from the sassyness of the female lead character, Andrea, the chemistry with the male lead, Tanner, but what really got through me, what made me cry, and feel hopeful and feel strong and inspired me, was Andrea and her issues, I don't want to spoil but I can say that I felt related in some kinda way with her, there are so many people who deal with mental issues, with mood issues, it's a reality and sometimes we are shamed by others who don't understand, and sometimes not even ourselves accept that there are things we need to deal to have a better life, a better future, to feel better with yourself. This book taught me that you have to be determined to be better and that the first step is recognize you have a problem, and that it's ok to ask for help, that I can still live a normal life and have a happy ending, or as many happy moments as I want!

So I'm gonna make this short and sweet, if you, like me, deal with sadness, depression, anxiety, substance abuse or other kind of thing that makes you not feel ok, read this, admit to yourself what you need help, want that help and ask for it. This book wasn't just a light read about romance, it actually teaches something, help us and makes us realize that we're not alone and that we can be HEARD.
